Sophie
On Thursday January 22nd, my grandmother – Sophie Rosner – passed away at the age of 96. She was a wonderful, intelligent woman who married Alex and united our family in so many ways. She was a teacher at the Walden School, and held a PhD in Education. She wrote her dissertation on racism in children’s literature.
Sophie made jewelry and built large, electrified, dollhouses after she retired. Stern but loving, quick witted and terrible at cooking, She is survived by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whose lives have all been touched by her. Among her other generosities, Sophie saved the letters that Alex and Sylvia wrote and make up this blog. Sophie will be sorely missed.
